My Partner Has A “Friend.” Is It Jealousy — Or Is It Crossing a Line?

Your partner has a very close friend.

Someone with history.
Access.
A shared language you do not fully understand.

There are stories you were not there for.
Jokes you do not get.
A version of your partner that existed long before you arrived.

And suddenly, you feel like the third person in your own relationship.

That is where the questions start.

How often do they text?
Did anything ever happen between them?
Did either of them want it to?
Does your partner tell this person things before they tell you?

The questions can sound reasonable because they are attached to something real:

you feel outside of something.

But once that feeling takes hold, it becomes very hard to know whether you are noticing a line being crossed—or trying to make the uncertainty stop.

This episode is about the question underneath the jealousy: are you responding to behavior, or turning discomfort into evidence?
